Correction and rehabilitation systems in modern penal policy An example of alternative punishment

Abstract

Alternatives to punishment depriving and restricting freedom are based on the failure of prisons to fulfill their function and their inability to socially re-educate the criminal, and the purpose of this trend is to adopt alternatives to penalties in order to reduce prison overcrowding and help convicts to reintegrate into society, and then reduce the rate of recidivism.                                                                                              

This topic came out with three demands that we dealt with in the introductory demand: Defining alternatives to penalties in modern penal policy. We explained the nature of this pattern of rehabilitative alternative penalties adopted by the modern penal policy. And we dealt with in the first requirement of this study; Types of alternative punishments. In the    second requirement: limiting punishment in modern penal policy.                  

At the end of our research, we reached results, the most important of which is that the modern penal policy requires legislators to adopt a number of measures that lead to reforming the convict, not punishing him, by adopting a positive concept of punishment. And the need to adopt an integrated preventive strategy to prevent and combat crime that takes into account the economic factor, social justice, the social and professional environment, education, and the behavior of the individual in society. This is done by putting in place more controls and mechanisms aimed at harmonizing penal legislation with modern penal policies in order to achieve the lofty goals of punishment.
